This article outlines the steps schools can take to authorize a parent to use the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
Authorization Letter
Once a school has confirmed the identity of the legal parent or guardian, run the Parent Portal Authorization letter.
- From the PowerSchool Start Page, search for the student
- Click the printer icon to the right of the Student name to access the "Print a Report" page.
- Choose Parent Portal - Authorization from the list of reports
- A Spanish version of the report is also available in the list
- Click Submit to run the report
- PowerSchool will redirect to the Report Queue page
- Click View next to the Parent Portal - Authorization report
- The Authorization Letter will be displayed on-screen
- At this point, the letter can be printed or saved as a PDF to be emailed to the Parent/Guardian
- Parents or Guardians should be directed to the Springfield Public Schools website for the instructions and videos on how to complete their account setup

- To complete the setup, Parents or Guardians will need the Access ID and Access Password from the Authorization letter
