Hybrid Attendance Reporting

Tags Attendance

Summary:

Now that students are returning to in-person learning, there will be a change of procedure with regards to the attendance codes that will need to be used to accurately record a student’s status regarding In-Person or Remote learning. The most important thing to note is that the default code is “Remote Present” so students who are “In-Person Present” need to be coded as such.

Changes to Attendance Codes for In-Person and Remote Learning

The attendance codes that have been in place since the start of school will continue to be used to record Remote attendance only (These codes now include “Remote” as a prefix to their description.) We have created a new set of codes for use when learning is In-Person. It is imperative that school staff and teachers use the appropriate attendance codes: either In-Person (Codes prefixed with IP) or Remote, dependent on the student’s status (remote learning vs. in-person learning).

  • All In-Person Attendance Codes are prefixed with “IP”
  • The existing Attendance Codes should continue to be used to reflect Remote Attendance

Teachers:

The codes that teachers use will still be limited to the same three categories for Meeting and Daily Attendance.

The current codes will continue to be used to indicate Remote Learning only

The new codes will reflect In-Person learning.

*Note: If a student is present for In-Person learning, the teacher must select the code “(IPP) In-Person Present”. The default attendance code is “Remote Present”. Please take care in selecting the appropriate code if the student is participating in In-Person learning.

Office Staff:

The additional attendance codes that are available to the School Administrators and Office Staff will be similarly updated (Note: some codes were not duplicated

Example: The following student is assigned to COVID-19 Session A

As a Session A Student, they have the following learning schedule:

  • Monday & Tuesday = In-Person
  • Wednesday – Friday = Remote

In the following example from their Daily Attendance, they have been flagged with both Remote and In-Person attendance, reflecting a Hybrid learning situation.

  • Monday April 5: In-Person Present (IPP)
  • Tuesday April 6: In-Person Absent (IPN)
  • Wednesday April 7: Remote Tardy (T)
  • Thursday April 8: Remote Present (Blank)
  • Friday April 9: Remote Unexcused Absence (R)
