How to Install Microsoft Office from within Company Portal and Configure the Outlook Mail Client

Introduction

The Microsoft Office suite of products—Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint—are no longer installed by default on staff computers after a re-image or computer upgrade. Staff will still have access to these programs within Office 365 and will have the ability to install the Microsoft Office suite from within Company Portal on your SPS issued laptop.

Access Company Portal through IT Hub

The Company Portal is installed on your staff laptop and is accessible via the IT Hub icon located on your Windows desktop.

Double-click the IT Hub icon to open the program.

Click the menu icon at the top-left of the IT Hub window to expand the navigation options.

Next, click Company Portal to proceed; Company Portal will open.

BE AWARE
If you cannot locate IT Hub, proceed to the Windows start menu and click Company Portal.

Install the Microsoft Office Suite via Company Portal

Once Company Portal opens, click the Apps tab in the menu on the left.

Next, click Office 365 - Staff; a details page with an Install button will appear.

Click the blue Install button to begin the installation process; Company Portal will begin downloading and installing Office 365 - Staff.

After the download finishes, it will begin installing on your computer; an orange We’re getting things ready window will appear.

Within a few moments, an installation dialog window will show the progress of the Office install.

You're All Set!

When installation is complete, you can close the Office dialog window.

You can now access the Office suite of programs through the Windows start menu.

Launch and Configure Outlook Mail Client

Launch the Outlook mail client.

On the Welcome to Outlook dialog window, your email address is automatically filled in for you; click the Connect button to continue.

After a few moments, a Windows Security dialog window will appear.

Confirm your email address and type in your password.

Check off Remember my credentials—if you skip this step, you'll be prompted for a password each time you open Outlook.

Account setup is now complete!

Click the OK button to launch Outlook.
