How to Setup Microsoft OneDrive within Windows
OneDrive Overview
OneDrive is a free cloud storage service that is associated with your staff account.
You’ll be able to save your files to OneDrive and access them from any Internet-connected PC, tablet, or smart phone.
Note: OneDrive will likely be set up for you by a technician during laptop appointments.
BE AWARE
The OneDrive client within Windows and OneDrive within Office 365 work in conjunction with each other. Saving a file to OneDrive in within Windows will sync to OneDrive within Office 365.
Launch the Microsoft OneDrive Application within Windows
Log into your Windows staff laptop and click the Windows Start button in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.
Scroll down to the OneDrive application within the Windows programs list and click the OneDrive icon to launch the application.
A OneDrive dialog window will now open.
Set Up the Microsoft OneDrive Client
Within the Set up OneDrive dialog window, enter your staff email address.
Click the Sign in button to continue.
Within the This is your OneDrive folder dialog window, click the Next button.
Within the Welcome to OneDrive dialog window, click through the OneDrive feature slides via the arrow in the bottom-right of the dialog window.
Within the You're good to go dialog window, finalize your OneDrive configuration by clicking the Open my OneDrive folder button.
Your OneDrive folder will now open.
The Microsoft OneDrive Library Folder
A new folder named OneDrive - Springfield Public Schools will be added to your library.
Save Files to the Microsoft OneDrive Folder
Create a document in a program such as Microsoft Word.
When you’re ready to save your work, click File and select Save As; a Save As dialog window will appear.
Add a custom name to your document and select OneDrive – Springfield Public Schools.
Click the Save button to save your document to OneDrive – Springfield Public Schools.
Your saved file will be automatically synced to your OneDrive and will also appear within the OneDrive app in Office 365.
BE AWARE
You can drag and drop files directly into your OneDrive folder!
Access the Microsoft OneDrive Client
You can access OneDrive from the taskbar by clicking the OneDrive icon.
Single-click the OneDrive icon to display settings options displays a list of recently opened documents.

Double-click the OneDrive icon to open your OneDrive folder directly.
Confirm Your Files are Synced with Microsoft OneDrive
If one or more files fails to sync, you can diagnose the issue(s) by right-clicking one of the failed files; click View sync problems to continue.
A dialog window will appear explaining the error and provides a potential resolution.
